OK, confessing I'm taking the easy way out here. I've read some on the custom fields and have only a dim understanding of how they work.

The question is, can they be used to help keep up with products that are discontinued or on order? Just a "yes" or "no" would be sufficient on the discontinued field, but would like to enter numbers in the on order field. Both fields would only be used for admin purposes and not on products or product details pages.

Do I totally misunderstand these, or is this possible using them?

Thanks,

Roger

Hi Roger

If I understand correctly they wouldn't be suitable there. The custom fields are normally used to display extra information on the product / detail page, maybe a note on shipping, the weight of item, stuff like that.

Hi Roger

A similar thing was suggested recently in the suggestions section of the forum by chrismlandon.

I think this may be along the lines of what you are looking for
