Andy,

That actually changed the process. When I click Add to cart I go to a page where it says its adding to the cart but doesn't really. You can try it yourself to see what it's doing now.

Would it help to run the updatestore.php again?

Also, when I copied the updater files over I copied the contents of vsadmin and images to the original folders instead of overriding because I didn't see files like db_connect_open in the updater. I assume that was the correct method?

You could run the updater again as it won't do any harm, I'm not sure that's the problem here but I think it's something server side. Overwriting the files when updating is correct, db_conn_open.php and includes.php are not included in the updater as they contain your particular database and settings details.

Hi Vernon,

I've just tried adding three items to the cart which shown as successful showing the message Please wait while we forward you to view the contents of your cart. When the cart page loads there are zero items and the standard message is shown - There are currently no items in your shopping cart. V45, thanks for the confirmation of the problem.

Andy, the updatestore ran fine but didn't fix the issue. I've been digging through logs and httpd.conf files but don't see anything obvious.

I inherited the webmin duties when we had a budget cut. I did not do the original setup. The one thing I am not is a programmer so I don't really know pHp. Does pHp generate an error log? Could this be an issue with mySQL or does the fact that the updatestore.php ran successfully rule that out?

Does the ecommerce user account for the mySQL databases need any schema privileges?

On all the sites I look after I have seen error logs when I view the website files via FTP. The logs are usually in a plain text format - example of the error filename error.txt

Have a look in the root folder, vsadmin folder as that's where I've found them.

V45,

There is no error log that I could find. Any other ideas folks?

From a software point of view I can't think of anything else to check. If you'd like to send me on your FTP details I can check your page set up for you and see if I can find anything there.

I would have first of all checked your cart.php and .htaccess files so you can send those on if you like.

Andy,

Can I get an actual email address. The Forums don't seem to allow attachments.

Andy or anyone,

I copied the schema privileges for mySQL from my old database and set the global privileges exactly the same and I got exactly .... no where. This is getting frustrating. I can't see where the issue is on the server end. The pages load fine and the cart acts like it is working but nothing is added. If I can't get this working very soon I'm going to revert to the old ECT and my old DB.

I understand the frustration. I just took another look at your site and the pages come up remarkably quick, it may of course be a very fast server but is there now definitely no server side caching or cloudflare involved?

Andy,

Just ran a serveradmin fullstatus on caching and it returns cachingstate = STOPPED so it's not running server-side caching as far as I can tell.

Hi Vdeal
I'm sorry this has dragged on a bit, but the normal course of action would be for me to dig in now and investigate on the server. But to do that I need FTP access to the site, but...

Is there any chance you can get that changed? If you can, can you send the FTP details to my email at vince AT ecommercetemplates DOT com

Vince,

Sorry for the huge delay on my side. I can try for a variance on the ftp but I don't expect it to be granted. Are there files I can send you to check? Also, is there any other way you could remote in? Thanks.
