Recently I purchased a couple of items online from
banggood(dot)com, a business based in Hong Kong. After delivery, I received an auto-generated email message inviting me to submit Product Reviews ... nothing new there.
But it is always interesting to experience procedures other Ecommerce Systems use to gather after-sales feedback and encourage customers to enter product reviews.
The banggood(dot)com procedure was quite different, so I will share details here for consideration. Maybe there are some features that ECT might like to adopt sometime in future.
This is how that Ecommerce Store Product Review procedure worked:
(1) Somehow their system used the Tracking Number to automatically gather the
Delivery Date direct from the Shipping Company systems.
Then it added the Delivery Date into the Customer "Order History".
Then it auto-generated and sent an after-sales Product Review invitation email message. (Best sent maybe a week later?)
(2) Customers are offered a fixed number of
Discount Points as a reward for each review submitted and subsequently approved by the Store Admin.
(3) The URL link in the email message takes the Customer to the
Account Login page. After Login, they view their "
Order History". Beside the relevant order there is a link titled "
Submit Review(s)".
(4) The next step asks the customer to
Rate the Shipping Service. Simple Rank from 1 to 5 stars: Satisfactory Tracking Info, Speed of Delivery, Adequate Packaging, Delivery Price, Delivered to Safe Location, + text field for comments.
These details are
not published on the website Product page, but I guess are recorded for the information of Store Admin.
(5) After that, the customer is shown a "
Product Reviews" page displaying each item purchased together with Review Form fields,
all on one single page.
There is a "
View our Review Guidelines" link which appears upon mouse hover. (Nice idea).
There is also a button labelled "
Upload Photos". The customer's photos will appear on the Product page as part of their review.
Following "
Submit", a "
Thanks" message appears confirming the reviews have been received and the number of "Discount Points" that will be awarded upon approval by Store Admin.
