I just purchased the new Outdoor responsive design template to update our existing web site (ECT 6.8.5 but with very old non responsive template). I copied the MSSQL DB, using fresh copy of outdoor template but have an ASP script timeout error on each store page from "include file="vsadmin/inc/incmenu.asp"

We have 25,000 categories and 8,000 products. I think it may be trying to load too much category info in the side bar and timing out. Also, as stated before in another thread, on the admincats.asp page, if I don't select 'None' for 'In Category' the categories take an enormous length of time to load, like 45 seconds or a minute.

Any ideas?

I don't think you'd be doing your customers any favors by asking them to drill through 25000 categories so probably best not to use the dynamic menu but a static menu where you can choose which pages / categories you want to link to.

I agree with Andy, make your menu static to the main sections. Listing that many categories is no good for server performance, and it is very hard for customers to navigate that many anyways.

Is there a way for the menu to only show top level sections? I have it setup like Main Category -> Audi, Buick, Chevy etc.....

If I could show the main categories in the dynamic navigation like vehicle Makes, without showing all the SUB categories, I think that would work great.

There is a setting for that
