We have many requests for Gift Cards which we are in the process of getting designed and will be of the Plastic Credit Card type.

These will need to go in as products with fixed amounts however these need to align with a gift certificate number in order to manage them.

Unfortunately gift certificates currently only support a single product id of "giftcertificate" and to support different amounts requires multiple product id's.

Perhaps it could be made much simpler with a check box for Gift Card / Gift Certificate in the product detail page which then generates a gift certificate for the amount when the product is purchased.

This will allow for many types of designs of Gift Cards from general ones to fancy ones for Birthday's or Anniversaries or Christmas, etc... and with different fixed amounts.

The Plastic Gift Card of choice can then be printed on using a zebra printer with a unique Gift Certificate Number, amount and even personalised message.

Physically receiving a very nice personalised Gift Card is so far superior compared to emailing someone a gift certificate which comes across as a bit cheap and tacky.

We have printed gift cards with unique code numbers on the back of each card, after we sell the gift card, we enter that card as a new gift cert in the amount they purchased and mail off the card.
