My client has two product ranges. One can be shipped to UK and Europe addresses direct from the manufacturer for the same (reasonable) price. The other can be shipped to UK addresses without a problem but costs a vast amount to ship to Europe.
He's asked if it's possible to prevent shoppers from ordering the second product range to European address and instead send them to a page where they request a shipping quotation and cannot complete the checkout procedure.
It's boggled my mind. Has anyone done this or can advise how it might be set up?
It's been a while since I set this site up so I'm a bit vague on how shipping was configured. I can see, though, that everything has a weight of "1" and that there's a maximum weight of "9999" setup. Shipping is free over a certain cart value.
It sounds then you are using weight based shipping to get a flat rate like the example here https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/shipping.asp#faq3
I really can't see though how that can be made for UK only on just some products. You could put up warning messages, even product options so they have to select UK or Europe and not allow the Europe choices to be added to cart. Maybe someone has a neater solution but I can't see it right now.
