Over the next few months we're phasing out some older products.

We've made the old products hard to find in our store, but because those products have many older, positive reviews in the Cart, when you search Google the old product pages, with their bright orange stars and large rating counts, appear high up in the results. Therefore we're selling more of these old products than we'd like.

Just now I attempted to "unapprove" the oldest 200 or so reviews for one of the old products so that those reviews will no longer appear online.

In the v7.0.7 Ratings & Reviews Admin page, I selected Approved in the Quick Selection drop down, cleared the Approved check boxes for around 200 oldest reviews, and clicked Update Product Ratings. A prompt showed that the update was successful, but those unchecked reviews still appear as approved in the Admin page and online.

What are the right steps to unapprove multiple reviews in that Admin page list view?

Thanks in advance for this.

- Paul D.

Hi Paul
I just tried here and unapproving seems to work fine. Could it possibly be this which is causing the problem?

Could you try another browser if that's the case?

I have to say, that's a pretty good problem to have.

Vince, thanks for this.

I've tried the process in our primary browser Microsoft IE ("Edge") and also in Chrome without success - I could not find where IE allows you to clear cookies for a single site as suggested on that linked page.

What browser did you use to successfully un-approve those reviews in your Admin page?

OK, I think I found the issue and workaround.

In the Ratings & Reviews Administration page, with 'Approved' selected in the Quick Select box, if I clear just a few Approved check boxes and click Update those reviews become unapproved, but if I clear (say) 180 of the Approved boxes and click Update nothing happens.

So you've got to un-approve the reviews a few at a time. Clearing 20 Approved boxes at a time and clicking Update seems to work OK.

This doesn't seem to be a web host firewall issue, since I checked the error log and found no entries corresponding to this action.

Hi Paul
I'm glad you've found a workaround but what it might be is that there is a piece of security software called "Suhosin" that is installed sometimes on servers and this limits the number of POST values that can be sent to a server.
