I was toying with the idea of using the LP feature. I read the post above before I turned it on to test it out.

In testing, it is possible for a customer to earn points without completing an order. The sequence is this:

add items to cart, proceed through checkout, select CC as payment method, on the last step, click "PROCEED TO PAYMENT",which, in my case, results in a PayPal iFrame window. Once the that widow is there, I can then click on HOME or anything that brings me away from the cart. Go back to the cart and the points are available to spend.

If that were possible it would indeed be a problem. However the link you referenced is by someone who is using the "Email / Money Order" payment method, and was querying whether a completed transaction should give loyalty points when the cheque hadn't actually arrived. I tried with the payment system you are using and in my tests here I don't get loyalty points added unless I go on and use a valid credit card. Certainly not at the point of card entry before entering anything. Can you double check this by going to the client login admin page and checking the loyalty point total, then going to pre-card entry page and make sure the loyalty point total is changing.
