This would be extremely helpful for my shipping issues. I don't think this already exists, if so please let me know.

I sell some very heavy products. I have USPS, UPS and FedEx set up as shippers. The customer will always select USPS for very heavy items, as the USPS systems seems to send back a shipping price regardless of if they can ship it or not. The USPS shipping price is always much lower than UPS or FedEx for these items.

When I actually go to ship the order, USPS is simply not an option as the product is much heavier than anything they can handle. Therefore I can lose a tremendous amount of money on these orders, if I am not able to convince the customer that they mush pay an additional fee at the time of shipping.

A much needed solution is: Place an option on the product admin page - per product which allows me to choose a particular shipper for that product. This will force the customer to select this shipper for that particular product (or that particular purchase altogether). That way there will be no money lost by me, and the customer will not have to be contacted for additional shipping fees at the time of shipping.

I have a client that ships some very heavy and/or large items. What we have done is add a surcharge to the product as a forced option. It has worked fine for years, though maybe not an ideal solution for you.
