Is there a way to sort the products by pOrder DESC?
I don't see that option in the Main settings?

There should be up and down arrows in your admin and there is product order up and product order down there. Are you not seeing that? If not, please let us know what version you are on.
Thanks, David

I'm on the latest version.
In PRODUCT ADMIN, I'll sort by pOrder DESC and the results are not the same as Default Product Sort Order: Product Order.
Even when I do by date... all the newest show up, but the order was wrong when compared to the rows that were entered when I imported the CSV.

I'm not saying that the options are missing... I'm saying that the results are different.
For instance....
When I view within the product admin section I get...
SourceSmack-colorful-purple-wave-refraction3 SourceSmack-murky-swirl1 SourceSmack-orange-frosted-scratch SourceSmack-dark-blue-swirl2
When I view how it shows online I get....
cropping-hair Double_linear-circle-alternatinggrid-12-0 Double_linear-circle-intersectinglines-12-0
The products order shown in the admin search is different than what shows online.

Is it possible you are using the product filter bar and you have selected a different sort on the front end of the website? That would override what's set in the admin.

Hi Terry, as a test, perhaps check the site with a browser you never use to be sure a cookie is not set in your primary browser that is forcing a different sort.
Thanks, David

Way ahead of you on that... did all of that.
One thing I didn't do was in the database utility, I didn't do was "Reorder images in database". Not sure what that would do...

Ok Terry, sounds like you've taken some steps there, so as Phil suggests, we should let Vince investigate this one. I'm sure he'll be along shortly.
Thanks, David

Sorry Vince my fault for not specifying. The issue is displayed on the index page. It’s set to show the newest images. That’s where the problem is.

Thanks Vince... I tried this it has no effect. After looking at the display of images I have noticed that the images are indeed sorting from newest date. However, it then sorts alphabetically.
Last attempt:
Is there a way to sort by date and then NOT to sort alphabetically... but rather how it was entered in the CSV listing of rows?

Hi Terry, have you entered any sort order in your products, a numerical value there? You should be able to force a sort that goes by those numbers.

No unfortunately not.... they are all by name (which I'm not sure why I did... possibly SEO at the time).
It may be a daunting task to go back and change all images and all zip files

Hi Terry, I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. This is the [red[Product Order:[/red] set on each product, in the product details of the admin, or on the quick entry menu in the admin.
Once you set those, you can sort by that on the home page and that way you control the sort 100%

Your not confused David... I was....
my sort on the home page is sorted by newest images. I have now used date desc to show that. ( I was using prod order search... but that is something else)
So using this sort, on the front page, it shows everything I uploaded yesterday (for instance). However, it's sorted by date and then by name. I just wanted the date and the order to which I had on the CSV file....
I have done another test, and uploaded 1 today and then uploaded 2 more today... all three show but not in the order I uploaded those.
I don't think this can be done.
I looked at doing your way and creating an order number for each item... but all in all I want it sorted by date. My mistake.
Again I don't think it can be done that way—correct?

Hi Terry, if you want to force a sort by date, regardless of what a customer has selected to resort on your site, then you want my trick here - https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=108630 Just apply it to your home page instead of a custom "new-products" page like I use. Let me know if you have questions about that. David
