Hi have had the website freezing on the server for th elat few weeks resulting in hours of downtime

they are pointing to bad scripting and apllications

not sure what to do

Hi, I expect "they" are your host.
If they are going to point to bad scripting, they should at least let you know how they determined that and what the bad script is.

Can you post back what version of the shopping cart you have? You can see that in your admin.
Also post back what you see on your admin dash board under "Debug Info" (scroll down to see that).

Let's start there.

Unfortunately "bad scripting and applications" is sometimes the way hosts just try to pass the buck for server problems. Asking for specifics, as David mentioned, is a good way of flushing these excuses out.
