I have been testing my site on IIS (Windows 10). Unfortunately, I am not receiving order confirmation emails. Nor am I receiving emails via “Ask a Question” or “Email Friend”.

I have set the SMTP parameters in IIS and the ECT parameters in the Store/ Email Settings. However, “None” and “CDO” are the only Email Object choices available and I am not certain to what extend the Email Object is where the problem lies. I have tested both but to no avail.

I am using Ecommerce Plus ASP v6.9.6. I purchased the latest updater a few days ago but would like to resolve this email issue before installing.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Toby

Hi Toby
Ask you host what the settings should be for sending mail with CDO and then set those in the ECT Admin -> Main Settings page.

Hi Vince,

I have not settled on a host at the moment and that is why I am testing on local IIS. Does email not function when testing on a local IIS environment?

Hi Toby
Without connecting to an SMTP server I think you’ll just find the mail sitting under the iis folders.

Hi Vince,

You know better than but I did create a folder for directing email when the smtp server settings were not directing email. But that email folder is empty.

I am not certain the email address associated with my domain is working properly and that is my focus at the moment.

I was only able to resolve this issue once I had a new hosting plan in place (Hostgator).

I am certain there is way of sending/receiving email in a testing environment with IIS10 on localhost but I was unsuccessful.

Nevertheless, I consider this issue solved for now.

Hi Toby
I'm glad it's sorted now and yes, you can send emails from your testing server but you would need to either have an SMTP server installed locally or to connect to an external SMTP server. We use GMail for email services for instance so I can enter my GMail SMTP details into the ECT Admin - Main Settings page and use that. Windows 10 doesn't (I believe) come with a built-in SMTP server so you'd have to install a 3rd party one if you don't have an external server.
