The WebAuthn standard is a joint effort between the World Wide Web Consortium (WC3) and the FIDO Alliance, which is made up of a variety of tech and finance companies. This tech and API’s has been worked on for many many years and is used by Google, PayPal, etc… and Apple are going passwordless next month for their all their devices.

The benefits are huge in removing the biggest friction for users. It should also allow them the choice to use their Google, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook or Amazon account to login. At some point in the future, passkeys will be a requirement for taking online payments since all the big card companies are board members https://fidoalliance.org/members.

It would be very smart for ECT to get on board to support passkeys as soon as possible.
