I am the webmaster for a grain/mill business that ships flour/grain to customers. Most shipments are 50lbs+ . Any suggestions for best shipping broker to integrate?

Hi rubantin, I see you started a new post. I did check the site in your profile and see it looks like you are US based.
I do know both FedEx and UPS add a fee for single packages over 50 pounds.
I wonder if it's possible for you to supply those in 25 pound bags? You could avoid the extra fees and save a small fortune on shipping.
It may be less expensive to ship two 25 pound boxes versus a single 50 pound box in some cases.

You should contact both UPS and FedEx and ask for a local rep to contact you about setting up shipping and specifically ask them if they are willing to negotiate some discounts for packages over 50 pounds. Choose the company that is willing to give you the better discounts.

Thanks,
David

I did just contact the business and they said, recently, they have started to ship a lot more 25lb bags and will be converting over to a majority of them.... So, looking for best shipping option to recommend.

Are these mostly residential, or commercial shipments?
How are they currently shipping?

We ship a lot of heavy packages (Lead Bullets)

We use USPS Priority Flat Rate boxes.

You can ship up to 70lbs in each box for around $14

Hi rubantin, what shipping companies, are you currently using?

Patrick's response -
I'm not sure a 50 bag of flour will fit in one of the USPS flat rate boxes.
It might be worth looking into though.

Fedex and UPS... I just renegotiated rates though... so, we will see what they have to offer. 25 packages a week... avg 25lbs

I see. Both of those companies will give you negotiated rates, but there are tiers where you hit a threshold and the discounts are increased.
It's probably better to pick the one that suits you best, and use that one as your primary sipper.

Thanks,
David
