If I use weight based shipping... is there a way to also add an amount for insurance based on the cart total?

Hi, I believe so. The insurance settings are one their own there in the "main settings" and I am pretty sure they are not service, or carrier specific.
I would give it a try.

Anyone know what to add to the includes files to add for insurance based on cart total. I thought there was something like

addshipinsurance=".10"

to add 10% to shipping???

Hi Scott, that's all done in the admin Main settings now.
Unless you are on an old version of the cart.

Hi Scott

In the admin go to Store Admin > Main Settings > Shipping & Handling Settings. Once there you can set Domestic or International Insurance Cost as either & %age or as a minimum amount. Above those selections you have four choices under Domestic Shipments Insurance & also International Shipments Insurance & those are:

Don't add insurance
Automatically add insurance
Ask the customer if thy would like insurance
Force the customer to choose if they want insurance or not
