Starting April 2024

PCI DSS version 4.0

Version 4.0 marks the first significant change to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) in nearly a decade. It is a response to both changes in technology and the evolving threat landscape facing businesses today. It aims to better support businesses in their efforts to secure payment card data and improve security measures to protect against potential risks.

Are any of these changes going to affect ECT?

Hi Patrick
If you (for instance) take payments on your website with PayPal Checkout then PayPal Checkout needs to be PCI Compliant. You are not processing the credit card yourself and the payment system is designed to make sure you don't get to touch and especially not store the card number. Previously we had a system called "Capture Card" where you could store the card number in encrypted form in the database but this was removed so that it would remove the requirement for PCI DSS compliance.

I don't use PP nor ever will again.

I use Authorize.net AIM with hosting through ServeLink

My customers stay on my website to make the purchase but I never see or store their credit card info

Hi Patrick
I was just using PayPal as an example and the same is true for all the payment processors these days.
