I recall reading it is now possible to ship a partial order and can indicate what shipped, then ship the rest of the order at a later date also indicating what shipped. I cannot find where that is or how it is suppose to work. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Marshal

There's a mention here - https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=114685

I've never used it though but from what I can gather if you look in your admin > email messages it's under 'ship line item'

So I'm assuming you would use the status 'order lines' to use this feature.

Hi Phil,

I see the order status email, but what I do not understand is how do you select partial order shipped in the order admin and, subsequently, which products were shipped. The order status drop down does not have it as an option and nothing I select shows, say, a check box (for example) next to a product to to add it to the email as an item that was shipped. Do you know of any instructions some where as I cannot locate any.

Well you have the ability to add the replacement fields in that status email

%ordername% %orderdate% %orderid% %pid% %pname%

So setting the status 'order lines' to that particular order and adding the appropriate replacement fields in the status email will inform the customer which product by ID and name has been sent out, when it was shipped etc etc.

Does that help at all?

I saw that Phil. What I don't see how how you select 'order lines' in the order admin and how there you pick which items shipped.

Hi Marshall,
Selecting 'order lines' splits the items in the order, so you can just select the item(s) you're wanting to ship, add a tracking number and update the status. If you add the appropriate replacement fields in the email message, particularly the order ID and product name the client will know which item(s) has been shipped and will also receive the tracking number(s).

This image should help of a two item order, if for example the order had 3 items it would split into three

I did a test and found the tracking number replacement field {%trackingnum%} which I presume goes in the subject line, does not display the tracking number entered in the split line tracking # field. Also, does not seem like an intuitive place to put a tracking number. Is there a way to put the shipping method (UPSP, UPS, etc) and tracking number in the email body?

Hi Marshall

The replacement field {%trackingnum%} should perhaps go in the body of the email message, that would then display the tracking number you add in the split line tracking field - see below.

You would manually add the tracking number in the split line tracking field.

I'm not too sure if you can define which shipping method you're using

Try it without the brackets

For example this works for me in the email body

The following item has been shipped %pname%.

%trackingnum%

It is funny you mentioned that as I did try it and it worked. However, since there is no way to indicate the carrier: USPS, UPS, etc., the tracking number serves no purpose.
