I'm looking for a way to visibly show the contents of a package.

Is there code to show this, as currently I'm doing a search to achieve this? I'm running into issues as not all of the products have the same name.

The perfect scenario would be to show the image of the package that I am selling. Then when they click on the image, it lists out all of the connected items that make up the package.

Anyone have any ideas or have run into this?

Are you talking on the product detail page? You could put something in the product description or use one of the custom fields and call it "Package Contains" then list the contents there.

So I understand what you’re saying, but there are only so many custom fields.

So if I was to have 200 different packages, how can I separate those out between each other with 3 custom fields.

The whole problem is to have 50+ thumbnails of packages together. Click on one of the thumbnails and a page can load up and show all of the product thumbnails in that package.

Hindsight, it would be so easy if a package had a product ID as well then I could call on that to show the contents.

Does that make more sense?

Can you provide a URL to look at an example? With that, I would be able to provide a more informed suggestion. And just an FYI, 3 custom fields are standard, but you can add as many as you want through the vsadmin/includes.php file.

Actually Marshall I figured it out-or at least a solution.

I would have a link that when clicked would do a search for certain words in the description. However I would get other items showing up.

What I forgot is that you can use EXACT phrases and SEARCH TYPE and IN CATEGORY drop downs to be more precise.

So it works for now.

But it would be so much cleaner, to not have to go through the search to display these items but rather have a package code that would allow you to list the items within.

Thanks for your assistance though Marshall!

Hi Terry,

FYI you can now add more custom fields, as many as you choose, rather than being limited to the original three. This feature was added in v7.4.7 in Feb 2022 - https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=114584

Thanks for this... I must have skimmed over this.

Quite a bit to understand but will look at it this weekend.

That's the time when I flush my brain of all my office work from the week.
