I have had clients complaining of duplicate charges. The first few times I thought it was a glitch, but now its been an array of unrelated clients. I checked my account and sure enough it was double paid. It assigns a second order number and charges twice. What causes this and how can I fix it?

Note: I am asking clients what payment method was used.
All clients reported that site stated the transaction didnt go through.

Are you using Stripe by any chance?

We used to get this issue but Vince put in a fix a while back.

Not using stripe, I’m keeping an eye on it. Site is updated to current, all files updated. Client said they used debit card and an error message popped up stating payment failed but it actually went through. So they did it again and it went through… again. Two order numbers. If clients are getting an error message, using back button, retrying, and succeeding… I’m sure that’d do it. Problem is communication via ipn possibly? No one else have this issue?
