Hello,
I'm using the Responsive ASP Beauty Template since a couple of years ago. Today while doing some SEO on Bing.com I got the following message below
"These pages have more than one <h1> tag. Multiple <h1> header tags can confuse search engine bots and website users. It is recommended to use only one <h1> tag per page.
I try to follow Bing recommendation but my site doesn't look right if i only use one <h1> tag
Is there another solution ? Can somebody help me?

Excuse my ignorance where exactly is the "product detail page"?

https://www.yoursite.com/proddetail.asp?prod=the_product_id But what page is Bing complaining about? If you want to use multiple header tags, you should give them unique tags <h1>some title</h1> <h2> some other title</h2> https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/header-tagsquote: Here's a quick guide on header tags and what they're used for:
H1 — The title of a post. They're usually keyword-centric, focused around the "big idea" of a page or post, and crafted to grab a reader's attention. H2 — These are subheaders that classify the main points of your paragraphs and separate sections. Consider using semantic keywords related to the "big idea" in your H1 while also helping the reader easily find the sections they want to read. H3 — These are subsections that clarify the points made in the H2 further. Alternatively, they can be used in formatting lists or bullet points. H4 —These are subsections that clarify the points made in the H3 further. Alternatively, they can be used in formatting lists or bullet points.
The "H" in H1, H2, etc. officially stands for "heading element," though the SEO community also commonly calls these tags "header tags."
As you can guess from the guide above, the numeral indicates the hierarchal relationship between each one (with H1 being the most important, H2 being less important, and so on).

Hia Dave,
About your answer the link you posted is for dynamic tags? https://www.yoursite.com/proddetail.asp?prod=the_product_id
I'm using static pages for all my products Is that the reason my product pages have many h1 tags?

Hi Jesse I see the problem and it seems to be the headings on the right column, "Our Products", "Shopping Cart", "More Links", etc. Each of those titles is in an H1 tag but where you have for instance... <h1 class="mennav">Our Products</h1> ...that should really be... <div class="mennav">Our Products</div> ...and the same for the other headings there. Then in the style sheet this... Then in the style.css file this line... h1.mennav{background:#f1f1f1;font-size:1em;border-right:10px solid #FED778;color:#6D6D6D;width:140px;font-weight:normal;border-left:0px;} Should be changed to this... div.mennav{background:#f1f1f1;font-size:1em;border-right:10px solid #FED778;color:#6D6D6D;width:140px;font-weight:normal;border-left:0px;} Vince Click Here for Shopping Cart SoftwareClick Here to sign up for our newsletterClick Here for the latest updater

On a page by page basis, nothing beats Notepad++ If you want to work with DWT files, you may still be able to get a copy of Microsoft's Expression Web 4, no longer supported, but still works just fine. I may have a copy if you need it.
