Ive been hit with fraud, it would be nice to search ip's to see a trend.

Also including the options text to the search function.

I have a custom edit for these two and make the zip code search for not only the billing, but also the shipping zip code.
It would be great if these three were native so I have one less mod.

Thanks,
David

We'd be interested to hear about any other processes (automated or manual) to minimize fraud.

We learned to avoid shipping to Russia and similar territories, and to call and confirm the use case before shipping any order with unusual quantities or odd combinations of products.

Today our most common source of fraud is employees at established companies who fail to remember or document an order, and create a chargeback when they (or the accountant) see the payment card bill.

Once a chargeback occurs it's usually irreversible; documenting the product delivery and details is mostly a waste of time.

Our only recourse is to refuse to sell to anyone else at that organization. It's led to some unpleasant, long email threads from others at those companies.

We use a tool to convert the IP address and show us in the admin so we do not have to click the link to see the results.
This is a good tool for us too.
We also use the Melissa Data API for address validation and it give us all kinds of info on the customer.
It's very low cost and you get free lookups every month.

We also have the Google Maps API in the order details so we can view an image of the address to see if it looks suspicious.

We also have some code that will match old orders based on email address, name, and IP address and it will tell us if that customer has an order in a status we have set for bad actors.
Another one if we pull in the notes from the client account so if they are a problem customer, we have those notes showing so we can decide the best way forward on the order.

I have though of developing a scoring system for orders to help us detect potential fraud.

This has been very helpful to us.

Dave thanks for the info. That's very helpful.

As for the mods, do you offer those for sale?

Some of I have posted in tips and tricks, such as the Google maps...
Most of my mods are for .asp so I would need to know what platform you are on.

Thanks,
David

I'm sure my code could be converted and it may be that I could do it, but I am pretty busy these days so it would be something I would need to visit in the future.
Thanks,
David
