Hello Everybody,

I'm using Ecommerce Plus ASP v7.7.6
When I login to my control panel the following message shoes up

"PayPal Standard, PayPal Direct Payments and PayPal Express are now no longer supported by PayPal
Click here to Update PayPal Checkout"

Can somebody tell me what the error above means?

Hi Jezze
The old PayPal payment methods like PayPal Standard, Express and Direct Payments have all been replaced by PayPal Checkout. These old methods haven't been supported for a long time now and are getting more problematic. There is a wizard in the Payment Providers admin page to connect to PayPal Checkout and it really takes a matter of minutes (or less ).

Hi Vince,

Is this the reason my return URL is not working when a buyer pays with PayPal standard?

Hi Vince

About your reply below

"There is a wizard in the Payment Providers admin page to connect to PayPal Checkout and it really takes a matter of minutes (or less [Wink] )"

Can you tell me in more detail what exactly does the wizard do?

A "wizard" as it applies to software, is just a guide so to speak - it walks you through a series of steps.

It's been well documented for a long time on the forum here that the old Paypal would be going away and folks will need to go through the new steps (wizard) in the admin (on the latest versions) to get on to the new stuff.

Most folks say it's quite easy.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Thanks for your reply

One question, if i leave the standard PayPal payment enabled on my control panel, there is an option showing on the checkout page to
pay with a credit or debit card for buyers that don't have a PayPal account.

Should i leave that option enabled or should i disable it?

Hi Jezze
I would leave it enabled as it gives your customers more options to pay. But you can disable it if you are using a separate card payment provider.

Hi Vince,

thanks for your reply

Before using the new PayPal checkout , my return URL after paying with a PayPal account wasn't working
With the new PayPal checkout will the return URL work as before after a buyer pays for his/her order?

Hi Vince,

Today I had my first sale using the new PayPal Checkout method

I have a question, below the amount of the sale, there is a black button
which says "Inform PayPal"

What is the meaning of that button?
Do I have to click on it to inform PayPal about the sale?

Hi Jezze
Congratulations on the first (of many) PayPal Checkout sales!!

With PayPal Checkout you get the ability to capture charges if you are using the "Authorize Only" setup. And you can also void and refund orders etc and that "Inform PayPal" button is there to say that you transmit the change you made in the status menu above to PayPal.

What is the meaning of the message?

Hi Jezze
Was the order you were trying to update taken before the switch to PayPal Checkout?

Hi Jezze
This message would appear for the old integration of PayPal Express and the message appears if the username / password for the integration isn't set. Is it possible that you are still using the old PayPal Express together with the new PayPal checkout? If so, PayPal Express is available through PayPal checkout by clicking on the "Settings" button for PayPal Checkout and selecting, "Use Express Checkout".
