Hi Guys,

I have version 6.8 something and upgraded to the newest version 6.9.4 and the whole site went down. I uploaded my backup copy and now the only page I can get to come up is the home page which is suing the old index.html but is supposed to go to the index.asp. I can't even get into the back end to see orders. I'm hoping you guys can help me, I'm not sure what has happened, can I get someone my ftp info please?

Rick

Hi Rick

Can you check you haven't deleted db_conn_open.asp or includes.asp from the vsadmin folder?

Putting back the original files would make the database and admin files to be running different versions in all likelihood.

What I would do is download the database and check the version in the admin table.

I would then go to ecommercetemplates.com/downloads.asp and get the updater version that corresponds to the vesion showing in the database and upload those files (you can't and don't need to run updatestore.asp)

I went to the server and do have a backup from 2am last night so I am going to restore that and see if I can get it back up. If I do then I want to see why I can do the upgrade, have tried it twice and both times the site went completely down.

Ok, looks like it is back up. But not sure why I can't do the upgrade to 6.9.4. I do know we have an extra field in the products table called manufacturer that we use for other sites. Not sure if that is causing the error as I know it did once in the past when the upgrade added fields to the database but then we re-added the manufacturer field back and everything still worked fine. We really need that field there. Any suggestions on why the whole site goes down with this upgrade?

The manufacturers table no longer exists as it now forms part as a special case in the product attributes. That would almost certainly cause the problem you are seeing.
