Have just completed the updater to 6.94 (ASP)

This was from 5.7.4 - Yes its been a while but with the removal of capture card and AspEncrypt couldn't update
Now in process of moving to a hosted web ASP server rather than own co-located server, so can't run the AspEncrypt encryption program.
So biting the bullet!

The problem:
When testing the customer can browse the shop, place an order up to the point of pressing the Paypal button (gives a certificate error). But currently that's not the real problem as will be using a different card service provider.

The real issue is can't log in to the admin shop side. Can enter user and password, which it accepts and displays the Login accepted page, which then comes up with
"500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed."

This was working fine before the update

ectcart.js is ok as its being found by other shop pages, as is the database and new css file.

Any ideas?

Hi Brian

Can you ask your host to turn off friendly error messaging so we can see what the underlying error is?

Hi Andy,

Thanks, have contacted the service provider (1&1) unfortunately its something they can't do without upgrading to our own server - just what we were trying to get away from!

That's unusual. You could try that yourself via the web.config file https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/troubleshooting.asp#asp11

Ok that was easier than talking to 1&1!

Message is:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Could not use ''; file already in use.
/shop/shop/vsadmin/inc/incloginfunctions.asp, line 51

Have checked and the file has been updates (todays date) but there is no version number at the top.

Line 49 sub updaterchecker()
Line 50 set cnnu=server.createobject("ADODB.Connection")
Line 51 cnnu.open sDSN

That means your database folder has lost its write permissions. Hopefully the host can reset that for you.
