Hey All,

One of my websites that I built a long time ago is an information only site. My other one is an eCommerce. I will be building the new one (utilizing the same URL address as the information only site) and convert it into an eCommerce site.

This may be a dumb question but I've never done it like this before.

How can I submit/setup the new eCommerce site with my host without it overriding the original, while I am testing all functions before making it go live?

Hopefully this makes sense.

Patrick

Set up a sub folder and put the new build in there. When done, move the files to the root level.

One thing I forgot to mention is that my Existing Informational website is in html format.

My new eCommerce version will be PHP.

As long as you are not on a Windows server, that should not be a problem. But when the time comes to make the change, if you plan on using the same page names, e.g. contact.html is now contact.php, you should set up 301 redirects in the .htaccess file.
