Hi,
Our customers are all of a sudden (ie over the last 4 days now) reporting issues with paying with Paypal in 2 of our shops????
Any idea why this would be please? Is there something I haven't done? or is it just a paypal issue.
I have also experienced a problem in one online shop paying myself so I'm guessing its paypal but I thought I should ask just be sure? i know there was talk of some changes we had to do for paypal recently and I thought I had done them but now I'm wondering?
Thank you in advance for steering a very busy person straight.

Thank you for the reply Vince.
I've done tons of searching and can't find anything. I tried two transactions myself in our shops and all good so fingers crossed it was with paypal and its fixed.
Thanks again.

I'm getting the same feedback from my customers the last few day.
Customer says "I received an ordering error on the website but the PayPal payment seemed to work fine. Please confirm you received my order properly?"
Seems like it is happening after they pay via PayPal as PayPal tries to return to the website and error occurs and they never get to the Order Conformation page on my site.

Hi, I also have a couple of sites which have reported this. From what they said, it sounds like the IPN does not arrive from PayPal, and the customer sees a timeout message even though the payment has gone through. It is only on about 10% of transactions. Is anyone else hosted on TSO? They had something on their status page about a PayPal issue, they claim it is fixed now, but I have seen it occur at least once since. https://help.tsohost.com/status/report/10866

This has been a common on-again, off-again problem for us on our ASP website. This has been going on for years and the website version doesn't seem to matter. It does appear to be a paypal issue where something is off with their timing and often will last a few hours and sometimes as long as a few days but be sporadic. Yet I never see this happen with other websites. This is costing us a bit ofmoney in paypal fees (not much) due to people thinking it was a payment that didn't go through and duplicating the order. It's more of a hassle confirming to customers that "yes, the payment did go through". I'm hoping there is some sort of error trapping that can fix this issue... someday.

We had one or two today. We get so many in our chat system asking about this that we made a canned response. Sometimes we go weeks without one, but then get get them for a few days, then back to normal for a while. It seems to just be down to a Paypal issue if it's random.

Still getting an occasional PayPal Issue. Seems like when PayPal tries to go back from PayPal back to my store is when the issue occurs. Customer gets a message saying
"Sorry there seems to be an error".
"Identity token for PayPal payments data transfer (PDT) is not set"
and the screen stops there and does not return to my store and they do not get to my thanks page.
However, I do get there order at my end and I do get Payment ok from PayPal.... it just leave my customers wondering if there order was actually placed or not... so needs fixed...

Do I need to set my Identytoken number generated by PayPal?
I have my other setting all correct as far as I can tell. Paypal set http://www.yourstore.com/vsadmin/ppconfirm.asp and enabled and my Payment providers has my correct email set and it says to return to Auto Return - On Return URL - http://www.yourstoreurl.com/thanks.asp Payment Data Transfer - On
I'm set to SALE and not Authorize... ok? And I had nothing in Identiytoken when error happened... but just now I pasted my Identitytoken number from PayPal to that field... so I will see if that helps.
This does not seen to be happening all the time, just some times.... and in all cases I do get the orders and payment is going thru... just customer is getting an error message

Hi,
Our customers have reported the same issue. Happened today. Customer receives error message that says: ----------------- SHOPPING CART "I'm sorry, there was a problem with your transaction."
Transaction Result ------------------
But the transaction is processed by PayPal OK like normal.
Would appreciate any information to resolve this serious issue. Causing duplicate orders and havoc!
Thanks,
Rich

Hi Vince,
About two weeks ago a customer contacted us to say he was having a problem trying to make a purchase -- used several cards and kept getting the error message so he asked us if there was a problem with our website. We just thought it was a card problem and took the order over the phone. But it could have been happening before without our knowledge. The episode stuck in my mind, so I tested PayPal processing yesterday and sure enough I got the error message even though the payment and order messages was normal. This appears to be identical to what others have posted about this issue. There hasn't been any change to our server hosted by GoDaddy.

Hi Rich, I'm noticing various url available on the site example http://www and http://yourdomain and https://www and https://yourdomain on the home page the ptz camlink and all-in-1 are http://yourdomain. Looking at the mini-cart it uses www.yourdomain.com The problem with all the different urls it can cause issue with Paypal if I checkout on http://yourdomain.com but return to https://www.yourdomain.com a error will most likely show. What I would do is to check the admin store url and Secure checkout url are set as https://www. and check that all urls in Paypal match. Then in your .htaccess you will need a couple of directives. see the post here by Itzap it contains 2 rewrite directives https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=106851 once the urls are sorted out test the site and let us know.
