Hello I have a UK based website and currently use PayPal Standard Gateway.
I'd like to start taking credit card payments directly on our checkout page, to help streamline the process for the customer without sending the user to the PayPal.com site and for them entering details a second time.
Please can you tell me what payment module I will need to use on EcommerceTemplates?
Also what should I be signed up to on the PayPal side? I have the PayPal Complete Payments account currently.
Ideally I'd like to use the same gateway on a number of new sites.
Many Thanks
Regards Paul

Thanks Vince will pass info to my web developer.
I think my developer said that Paypal Pro was unavailable and was told that feature is currently not available for your account. Kind regards Paul

Hi Paul Maybe PayPal Smart Buttons (aka PayPal Checkout) is the way to go then. It's also a more modern interface. If you do go for that I just made a small change to use the PayPal "responsive" flag in the integration so that the button styles look better on different screen layouts, and I just added that to the updater now as it's a big improvement. One thing I noticed while testing though is unless you set the button style to vertical, card payment methods do not display and I think this is just because there is not enough space. Vince,
My web developer has come across a minor challenge when using PayPal smart buttons, as the customer has to enter their contact information twice - once on my website and again on PayPal site. Is this right or are we missing something as I do not feel this streamlines the shopping process.
Is there a line of code we should turn on to get the two systems to talk to each other correctly or do we need to think about using another gateway to resolve the aforementioned issue?

I believe the primary culprit is (usually) you must have a business account. But that's easy to do. Thanks, David

Hi David,
Thanks for your reply. I have had a business account for years now, but PayPal Pro is not available in the UK as that's what I got told when I tried to apply for that, and the PayPal complete payments is the the most up-to-date service for business users.
I guess that its time to look at other payment gateways..?

Vince,
I have been advised that PayPal Complete Payments is available in the USA which you may know as PayPal Commerce Platform, this is the new service and will supersede PayPal pro and that's part of the reason why I am not getting offered that service.
Are you aware of anyone using the PayPal Commerce Platform through this cart system, and if so how are they using it? Thank you
