Just noticed that email coming from the web site stopped a few weeks ago. Both orders and ask a questions. The email account is fine and we are able to use it elsewhere to send & receive.
Google changed their security setting on 22 March which is the same day it seems to have stopped. I had it set for CDO the last few years with no issues. Any insights as to what might stop the emails?
I did try the debug in the includes file and it looks like it is getting a 404 error when the emails are sent - not at all sure if that is the error.

This is using a Gmail account and I have tried changing the Main Settings -> Email settings with no effect. Also tried using a different email account and same result.
Everything has run fine for at least 10 years and then it stopped sending email on 22 March. I am able to send and receive emails through Outlook on this account but not through the website. The error code seems to relate to smtp settings.

I have tried disabling Ask a Question and the site now shows Email a Friend and then gives a 403 error if used even if both of these fields are FALSE
useaskaquestion=FALSE useemailfriend=FALSE

I do not use Go Daddy and yes I have discussed with the web provider. They recommended adding a SPF/DKIM record - this has not helped and now I have (2) sites with different email providers (one is Gmail) and neither one will send emails. One site is using version 7.4.4 - the other is 7.2.5 - something changed on 22 March (last email sent date) and I cannot figure it out. I was going to try upgrading to 7.4.8 or 7.5 - do you think that will help?

I have been battling with this as well. I have a gmail and an icloud address. If I place a dummy order on my site and use either of these address my order email shows up on them. At least I know that my customers are getting the order email. However I am no longer getting my control panel sign in emails and I am not getting an email when a customer places an order. I have just moved to a new email provider and that has not made a difference. I should also say that I have spf and DKIM installed on my host server. If I send an email from my domain to gmail it comes through clean but when I place a dummy order and have it sent to gmail it comes in but with a warning that it is unauthenticated so it looks questionable to customers. Does ECT have an spf record that can be added to DNS?
Thx, Jack

Hi, does the email address in your admin, that you are sending from, match your stores domain name? If so, what host are you with?
Thanks, David

Hi David, Sorry to take so long to get back to you. Yes it does. I use Signs@mydomain.com which is also the address that I have registered with you. We are now hosted with Godaddy. We were migrated from Media Temple last year. Even so, our email was still being hosted on a Media Temple server but my store emails dropped out when Godaddy got in the picture. I have since moved my email to ZoHo about two weeks ago. Their security is more up to date. I was told by a Media Temple employee that the MT server is outdated. Either way that did not correct the problem. I suspect that somehow Godaddy is blocking them but I really don't know. I have already tried once with their tech support.
Thank you, Jack

Hi Jack, it seems there are more email problem post for godaddy users, than any other host here. So they can be tricky sometimes. You might ask them to take a look at the SMTP server to see if emails are flowing out as they should. You might try setting this in your includes.asp file... debugmode=TRUE Then try sending another email and you should get debug output as to what the problem might be. Be sure to remove, or comment out that line in your includes after getting the debug details.
Thanks, David

Hi David,
I've added $debugmode=TRUE to my includes.php. Here is the error that popped up in cpanel. [Tue Aug 29 09:13:12.726079 2023] [lsapi:error] [pid 2723280:tid 47651479402240] [remote 98.1.94.221:64093] [host www.mydomain.com] Backend fatal error: PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected 'ini_set' (T_STRING) in /home/[red]I hid this part[/red]/public_html/vsadmin/includes.php on line 55\n, referer: https://www.mydomain.com/categories.php
My line 55 shows ini_set("display_errors",'On');
My line 56 shows error_reporting (E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE);
This actually shut down my store so I am not sure if it has anything to do with email. I could not get that far. Once I removed $debugmode=TRUE the store came back.

Yes, Vince is correct. Being we were in the .asp section, I gave you instructions for that. David
