Hi, It is possible to edit the UK Counties list or is there an up to date version? It appears that there are some incorrect / out of date counties on my site. For example South Humberside changed to North Lincolnshire in 1996!!

Hi Richard
I guess the only real point of having UK Counties now is as a way to split the UK into postal zones for weight and price based shipping. If you are not using those shipping methods (or are, but have a flat rate for the whole country) then it may be best to not require or display the county. I can certainly look into correcting any discrepancies but I don't actually see a change from South Humberside to North Lincolnshire on on this list for example...

Maybe if you give me more details about the entries that you think need changing? But at the same time, it's really hard to get a definitive list as the Royal Mail of course now doesn't even require the county.

Hi Vince, Thanks for your reply. I've been contacted by a few customers in recent months about the counties listed being out of date, but I hadn't looked into this myself until now. I have just spent some time looking online and so far I haven't been able to find a definitive up to date list. I do use the counties to differentiate postal zones for the Highlands of Scotland and Nothern Ireland where different shipping rates can apply, but I think this would be better achieved using post code areas as this is what the courier companies use. So maybe the answer would be to get rid of the counties / states list and have a post code list instead which could be used to set postal zones. I imagine that would be quite a big update though..

Richard.
