Can you check you haven't removed vsadmin/db_conn_open.php - that file isn't included in the updater as it contains the database details.

Incidentally, after updating the site the following lines were included in the notice:

"Please note that database script does not copy the updated scripts to your web.
This must be done separately as detailed in the instructions."

I do not understand that either

I found the problem - looks as if the FTP of the files copied the vsadmin files to the root directory as well as vsadmin.
Deleting the files from the root and re-running the updater appears to have cleared it.

Will now test the site to see if all is well
